Islamabad, April 06, 2025 – Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Mohammad Yousuf, unveiled an ambitious plan on Sunday, announcing that 75,000 Pakistani pilgrims will participate in the 2025 Hajj under a revamped government scheme. The announcement came during a press briefing at the Ministry’s headquarters, where Yousuf outlined innovative measures to elevate the pilgrimage experience.
Addressing the media, Yousuf revealed that Hajj flights are scheduled to commence on May 1, with departures planned from major cities, including Karachi, Islamabad, and Peshawar. “This year, we’re introducing a digital support system to assist pilgrims, ensuring seamless coordination from departure to their return,” he said, emphasizing the government’s commitment to modernizing the pilgrimage process.
The minister detailed a two-tier training program, with the initial phase already underway in community centers nationwide. The second phase, featuring immersive workshops, will kick off on May 10 at Quaid-i-Azam University in Islamabad. “We’re equipping pilgrims with knowledge and resources to make their journey spiritually fulfilling and stress-free,” Yousuf noted.
During a recent visit to Karachi, Yousuf inspected facilities at the Haji Camp and met with local officials to fine-tune logistics. “Our pilgrims deserve world-class services as they answer the call of Allah,” he said. The ministry has also collaborated with Saudi counterparts to secure upgraded accommodations, enhanced medical support, and eco-friendly transportation options for the pilgrims.
Additional protocols, including mandatory vaccinations and health screenings, have been introduced to safeguard participants. Yousuf confirmed that he briefed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on these advancements, receiving full backing for the initiative.
With just weeks until the first flights, the government is racing to finalize preparations. “Serving 75,000 pilgrims is a monumental task, but we’re determined to make Hajj 2025 a benchmark for excellence,” Yousuf concluded, promising a transformative experience for Pakistan’s faithful.
