LAHORE – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has unveiled plans for a rally to support the Pakistan Army personnel and honor the victims of the devastating Jaffer Express attack, Express News reported on Sunday. The announcement, made amidst heightened national sentiment, underscores PTI’s intent to unite citizens in tribute to the fallen, resonating deeply across Pakistan.
In a video message, PTI Punjab Vice President Akmal Khan Bari denounced the attack as “an extreme act of brutality,” labeling it “an assault on Pakistan itself.” His words echo the outrage following the March 15 bombing of the Jaffer Express near Quetta, which claimed lives, including soldiers and civilians—a tragedy PTI vows never to forget. “We stand with our army and the martyrs,” Bari declared, setting the stage for a powerful show of unity.
Scheduled for Tuesday, March 18, the rally will kick off at GPO Chowk in Lahore and culminate at the Punjab Assembly, a route symbolizing public resolve. “This will be a peaceful gathering to pay respects to the Jaffer Express martyrs and our brave soldiers,” Bari emphasized, urging the Punjab government to refrain from interference. PTI’s call extends beyond its ranks, inviting workers, lawyers, and civil society to join in droves.
The initiative comes as Pakistan grapples with rising security concerns, with the Jaffer Express attack spotlighting vulnerabilities in rail travel and military safety. Bari’s plea for participation aims to amplify a collective voice, honoring those lost while pressing for justice. “It’s not just PTI—it’s every Pakistani’s duty,” he said, a sentiment gaining traction online.
