The 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) roared to life today, April 10, 2025, with a dazzling opening ceremony at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has upped the stakes this season, revealing that the triumphant team will walk away with a hefty USD 500,000 (roughly Rs145 million), while the runners-up will claim USD 200,000 (about Rs56 million). Cricket fever is set to grip the nation until the grand finale on May 18.
Defending champions Islamabad United will kick off the tournament against Lahore Qalandars in the opener, following the star-studded launch event. This T20 extravaganza will see six franchises battle it out across 34 thrilling matches. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will be the heart of the action, hosting 13 games, including the eliminators and the final. Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium follows with 11 matches, including the crucial qualifier on May 13. Karachi’s National Bank Stadium and Multan Cricket Stadium host five matches each, totaling ten thrilling cricket showdowns.
Fans can look forward to three double-header days—two on Saturdays and a special treat on Labour Day, May 1. The teams are primed under familiar leaders: Babar Azam steers Peshawar Zalmi, Shadab Khan commands Islamabad United, Muhammad Rizwan drives Multan Sultans, and Shaheen Shah Afridi helms Lahore Qalandars. New faces take the helm at Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators, with David Warner and Saud Shakeel stepping up as captains, respectively.
Last year, Islamabad United clinched their third PSL crown, leaving Multan Sultans as bridesmaids for the third straight season. With bigger prizes and fierce competition, HBL PSL X promises a rollercoaster of cricketing brilliance. As the stadiums light up and the crowds roar, Pakistan’s premier T20 league is ready to deliver unforgettable moments over the next five weeks.
