Islamabad, April 14, 2025 – Pakistan is set to revolutionize its agriculture sector by sending 300 graduates to China on April 16 under the Prime Minister’s Initiative for Capacity Building of 1,000 Agricultural Graduates. This government-funded program, announced by the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, aims to modernize farming practices and enhance food security through advanced training.
The initiative targets young professionals, equipping them with expertise in cutting-edge fields like farm mechanization, biotechnology, precision agriculture, artificial intelligence, and high-efficiency irrigation. Collaborating with top Chinese universities and research institutes, the program offers specialized courses lasting three to six months. Selected through a rigorous merit-based process, participants are poised to become “master trainers” upon their return, sharing innovative techniques with local farmers, universities, and research bodies.
A grand send-off ceremony, attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain, will honor the first batch on April 15. The government’s commitment to dispatching 1,000 graduates throughout 2025 underscores its vision to transform agriculture into a high-tech, sustainable industry capable of driving economic growth.
“This is a transformative step for Pakistan’s agricultural future,” said a ministry spokesperson. “By adopting global best practices, our graduates will empower rural communities and strengthen food security.” The program aligns with Pakistan’s broader strategy to tackle climate challenges and boost productivity in a sector that employs nearly 40% of its workforce.
As the nation faces rising food demands, this initiative signals a bold move toward innovation. With the first group ready to embark on their journey, anticipation grows for the ripple effects their knowledge will bring to Pakistan’s fields and farms, paving the way for a greener, more prosperous future
