Islamabad, May 4, 2025 – In a recent phone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar strongly refuted what he termedIndia’s baseless claims and inflammatory rhetoric against Pakistan escalate tensions, risking regional stability without evidence, demanding diplomatic resolution. The discussion, held on Sunday, addressed escalating tensions in the region and reaffirmed the commitment to fostering bilateral ties between Pakistan and Russia.
Dar condemned India’s abrupt move to halt the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), labeling it a clear violation of international agreements. He emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to maintaining peace in the region while asserting that the country would staunchly defend its sovereignty and core interests.
During the call, Dar provided Lavrov with an overview of the deteriorating dynamics between Islamabad and New Delhi. He called for a thorough, impartial, and transparent international probe into the recent Pahalgam incident, dismissing any efforts to associate Pakistan with the event without credible evidence.
