RAWALPINDI, May 5, 2025 — General Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its territorial integrity and advancing development in Balochistan during an address at the 15th National Workshop Balochistan held at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
Speaking to a diverse audience of parliamentarians, bureaucrats, youth, academics, and media representatives, General Munir emphasized the government’s dedication to uplifting Balochistan’s socioeconomic landscape. “Significant strides are being made through ongoing and planned projects, directly benefiting the people of Balochistan,” he stated, dismissing misinformation campaigns aimed at undermining these efforts.
The COAS praised the contributions of civil society, particularly the youth, in driving awareness and progress in the province. “Their energy and initiatives are vital for transforming Balochistan into a hub of prosperity,” he noted.
Addressing security challenges, General Munir identified foreign-backed terrorism as the primary threat to Balochistan’s stability. He condemned groups exploiting Baloch identity to perpetrate violence, describing such acts as a stain on the region’s honor and patriotism. “Hostile forces seeking to sow discord and fear will find no success,” he declared.
In a stern message, the army chief underscored Pakistan’s pursuit of regional peace but warned that any violation of the country’s sovereignty would be met with a decisive response. “Pakistan stands for peace, but our resolve to protect our national dignity and the well-being of our people is absolute,” he asserted.
General Munir reaffirmed the military’s commitment to eradicating terrorism, supported by law enforcement agencies and the nation. “With the backing of our people, we will eliminate this menace and secure a peaceful future,” he concluded.
The workshop, designed to empower Balochistan’s emerging leaders, provided a platform for discussions on the province’s challenges and opportunities, with a strong emphasis on inclusive representation.
