Signals Robust Defense Against Aggression
Pasrur, May 14, 2025 – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the Pasrur Cantonment near Sialkot today, paying tribute to the armed forces for their steadfast defense of Pakistan’s sovereignty during the recently concluded Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, a key component of the broader Marka-e-Haq (Battle for Truth). The visit underscored the nation’s unity and resolve in the face of external threats, with the Prime Minister lauding the military’s decisive response to what he described as unprovoked aggression.
Accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, and other senior officials, PM Shehbaz received a detailed briefing on the operation’s success and the military’s ongoing preparedness. The Prime Minister engaged directly with frontline troops, commending their courage, professionalism, and unwavering commitment.
“Your sacrifices are the bedrock of our nation’s pride,” PM Shehbaz told the soldiers, emphasizing their role in safeguarding Pakistan’s territorial integrity. He highlighted the military’s swift and precise actions, which, according to official reports, neutralized critical enemy targets and thwarted aggressive maneuvers.
A Defiant Stand Against Aggression
The Prime Minister’s visit comes days after the announcement of a ceasefire between Pakistan and its eastern neighbor, following intense military exchanges that raised global concerns about escalation between the two nuclear powers. The ceasefire, facilitated through international diplomacy, marked a pause in hostilities that began after a tragic incident in April in a disputed region, which sparked a cycle of accusations and retaliatory actions.
PM Shehbaz condemned the targeting of civilians under false pretenses, calling it a violation of international norms. “Pakistan has always stood for peace, but we will never compromise on our sovereignty,” he declared, noting that the nation’s offer for a transparent investigation into the initial incident was ignored. “Arrogance and baseless claims met their match in the resolve of our armed forces,” he added.
Operation Bunyanum Marsoos: A Strategic Triumph
Launched on May 10, Operation Bunyanum Marsoos was described by military officials as a targeted response to hostile actions. The operation saw Pakistan’s armed forces deploy advanced weaponry, including the Al-Fatah missile, to dismantle key adversary infrastructure. The Pakistan Air Force’s precision strikes were credited with neutralizing high-value targets, showcasing the military’s technological and strategic prowess.
“The defenders of Pakistan turned the tide in mere hours, delivering a resounding message to those who dare challenge our resolve,” PM Shehbaz said, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). He praised the synergy between the Army, Air Force, and other units, which ensured a coordinated and effective response.
Looking Ahead: Unity and Vigilance
The Prime Minister announced plans to visit Pakistan Air Force and Navy bases in the coming days to express solidarity with all branches of the military. “Our armed forces are the shield of the nation, and their morale is our strength,” he said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to equipping and supporting the military.
PM Shehbaz also paid tribute to the martyrs, calling them “the eternal pride of Pakistan.” He reiterated the nation’s gratitude for their sacrifices, vowing that their legacy would inspire future generations.
As Pakistan navigates the fragile ceasefire, the Prime Minister called for vigilance and unity. “We seek peace, but we will never bow to aggression,” he said, signaling a firm stance on national security. The visit to Pasrur Garrison, a frontline hub, served as a powerful reminder of Pakistan’s readiness to defend its borders and uphold its dignity on the global stage.
