Malaysia’s budget carrier, AirAsia, has unveiled direct flights connecting Karachi to Kuala Lumpur, opening affordable travel avenues for business and leisure, with bookings now live. Set to commence on May 30, 2025, the service will run four times weekly, a move hailed by business leaders as a boost to Pakistan-Malaysia trade ties, Today Pakistan News reports.
AirAsia CEO Benjamin Ismail shared his excitement: “We’re thrilled to unveil this route, strengthening our foothold in South Asia. Karachi, a vibrant hub of trade, tourism, and entertainment, now joins our extensive network.” The flights promise to deepen economic links, with Karachi’s bustling markets and Kuala Lumpur’s commercial prowess in focus.
Both cities dazzle tourists—Karachi with its historical landmarks, Churna Island, and Turtle Beach, and Kuala Lumpur with the Petronas Twin Towers, Batu Caves, and scenic islands. “This connection taps into rich cultural and natural appeal,” notes travel analyst Sara Khan from Karachi.
Promotional fares start at Rs64,990 one-way from Karachi, with return tickets from Kuala Lumpur at 959 Malaysian Ringgit (roughly Rs42,000 at 1 MYR = 43.80 PKR, March 14 rates). Bookings are open via the AirAsia Move app or website until April 20, 2025, for travel between May 30, 2025, and March 27, 2026. “It’s a steal for exploring Malaysia,” Khan adds.
