Pakistan’s javelin sensation, Arshad Nadeem, is gearing up for a monumental challenge at the Asian Athletics Championship, set to take place in Korea from May 27 to 31, 2025. The Olympic gold medalist, currently honing his skills at Punjab Stadium, expressed his ambition to achieve a groundbreaking 100-meter javelin throw at the prestigious event.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Nadeem shared his determination to deliver a stellar performance. “I’m heading to Korea tomorrow for the Asian Athletics Championship, and my goal is to give my all,” he said with confidence. “A 100-meter throw is my target. I’m training relentlessly, and with divine will, I believe I can make it happen.”
The 28-year-old athlete, who has become a national hero in Pakistan, is leaving no stone unturned in his preparation. Following the championship, Nadeem revealed his plans to travel to England after Eid-ul-Adha to train for the World Athletics Championship under the guidance of his coach, Salman Butt. “The focus is on continuous improvement, and I’m committed to representing Pakistan at the highest level,” he added.
Nadeem also addressed questions about recent comments from Indian javelin star Neeraj Chopra, who mentioned that the two athletes do not share a close bond despite mutual respect in the past. Choosing to steer clear of controversy, Nadeem refrained from commenting, citing the sensitive diplomatic ties between Pakistan and India. “I’d rather not discuss this due to the situation between our countries. My support is always with the Pakistan Army,” he stated firmly.
In a gesture of sportsmanship, Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem congratulated India’s Neeraj Chopra for surpassing 90 meters to win silver at the Doha Diamond League, highlighting mutual respect despite their rivalry in javelin throw. “It’s a great milestone, and I wish him well,” Nadeem said graciously.
