Polish horror maestro Bloober Team, riding high on the success of their Silent Hill 2 remake, has launched a new development studio, Broken Mirror Games, and its debut title: I Hate This Place. Announced at the Future Games Show, the isometric survival-horror game adapts the hit Skybound Entertainment comic series, thrusting players into a retro-styled nightmare.
In I Hate This Place, you play as Elena, a reluctant hero battling a supernatural evil she accidentally unleashed. Armed with melee weapons, firearms, and crafting skills, players must survive monstrous hordes and reach safehouses before nightfall. A teaser trailer showcased the game’s comic-book visuals, grotesque giants, and the menacing Horned Man pulling the strings.
The original comic, penned by Kyle Starks and illustrated by Artyom Topilin, ran for 10 issues from May 2022 to July 2023 under Image Comics and Skybound. It later saw two hardcover collections in 2023. Now, Skybound’s partnership with Broken Mirror Games brings the eerie tale to life in interactive form.
Set for release later this year, I Hate This Place will hit Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. With Bloober Team’s Cronos: The New Dawn also on the horizon, the studio continues to cement its reputation as a horror powerhouse.
