Karachi, March 23, 2025 — Changan Pakistan has officially introduced the much-anticipated Changan Lumin, a compact electric vehicle (EV) aimed at revolutionizing urban mobility in the country. Unveiled at a bustling event in Karachi, the Lumin has already sparked excitement among eco-conscious drivers and city commuters, with its sleek design, practical features, and a surprisingly accessible price point.
The Changan Lumin is available in two variants in Pakistan: the Lumin L and Lumin L DC, priced at PKR 3.5 million and PKR 4.2 million, respectively. These ex-factory prices exclude additional taxes and documentation charges, but they still position the Lumin as one of the most affordable EVs in the local market. Designed for urban environments, this mini-EV boasts a compact footprint—measuring 3,720mm in length, 1,700mm in width, and 1,590mm in height—making it ideal for navigating Pakistan’s crowded city streets.
Under the hood, the Lumin offers two battery options: a 27.98 kWh battery for the base variant and a 28.08 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery for the top-tier model. Both deliver an impressive range of up to 301 km on a single charge, perfect for daily commutes. Charging times are practical too, with a full AC charge (0-100%) taking around 10 hours, while the Lumin L DC variant supports fast DC charging, reaching 30-100% in just 35 minutes.
Visually, the Lumin stands out with its minimalist yet modern design. Circular LED headlights, pop-out door handles, and 14-inch aerodynamic wheels give it a futuristic charm. Inside, the cabin offers a surprising amount of space for a compact car, featuring a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch LCD driver display, and fabric seats in light grey-orange or grey-black finishes. Safety features include dual front airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, and a rearview camera, ensuring peace of mind for drivers.
Early reviews from Pakistani buyers praise the Lumin’s efficiency and ease of use, though some note its modest 41-hp motor feels best suited for city driving rather than highways. “It’s a game-changer for short trips around Lahore,” said Ayesha Khan, a recent buyer. “Plus, I’m saving a lot on fuel costs.”
With the Lumin, Changan aims to accelerate Pakistan’s shift toward sustainable transport, offering an affordable, stylish, and practical EV for the masses. As more units hit the roads, the Lumin could redefine urban commuting in the country.
