Dubai International Airport (DXB) has cemented its status as the globe’s premier aviation hub, clinching the title of World’s Busiest International Airport for the second consecutive year. According to the Airports Council International (ACI) World, DXB welcomed a staggering 92.3 million passengers in 2024, solidifying its role as a linchpin of global connectivity.
The emirate’s flagship airport outshone competitors like London Heathrow, Seoul’s Incheon, Singapore Changi, and Amsterdam Schiphol, which trailed in the rankings. The top 10, rounded out by Paris Charles de Gaulle, Istanbul, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, and Doha, collectively managed 855 million passengers—9% of global traffic—reflecting an 8.8% surge from 2023. “The resilience of these hubs underscores their critical role in fueling trade and uniting people across borders,” said ACI World Director General Justin Erbacci.
DXB’s triumph comes amid a robust recovery for global aviation, with ACI’s preliminary data showing nearly 5 billion passengers worldwide in 2024—a 9% jump from the previous year and a 3.8% increase over 2019’s pre-pandemic benchmark. While DXB led the international category, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport retained its crown as the busiest overall, factoring in domestic travel, followed by Dubai and Dallas Fort Worth.
