Security forces in Pakistan killed 30 militants and rescued over 150 hostages during an ongoing clearance operation following a deadly terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express, a Peshawar-bound train, in Balochistan’s Bolan district. The assault, which took place on Tuesday in the remote Dhadar area of Bolan Pass, was claimed by the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a group linked to escalating violence in the province. The train, carrying over 400 passengers across nine bogies, was en route from Quetta to Peshawar when heavily armed gunmen bombed the railway track, forcing it to a halt in the mountainous region. The terrorists then stormed the train, taking hostages and sparking a swift response from security forces.
According to security sources, the clearance operation was launched immediately after the attack, resulting in the deaths of 30 terrorists. The forces also confirmed that the perpetrators are in contact with their mastermind, believed to be operating from Afghanistan.
Express News reported that the operation remains underway as authorities work to secure the area and ensure the safety of all passengers. The BLA’s involvement highlights the growing security challenges in Balochistan, where insurgent groups have intensified attacks on infrastructure and civilians in recent years.
