Peshawar, May 21, 2025 – The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) provincial government has released the summer vacation schedule for all educational institutions, aiming to provide relief to students amid rising temperatures. The announcement, made by the K-P Education Department, outlines distinct holiday periods for schools in the province’s summer and winter zones.
Vacation Schedule
- Summer Zone (Plains Areas):
- Primary Schools: June 1 to August 31
- Middle, High, and Higher Secondary Schools: June 15 to August 31
- Winter Zone:
- All Schools: July 1 to July 31
This schedule applies to both public and private educational institutions across K-P, ensuring uniformity in implementation.
Context and Regional Measures
The staggered vacation periods are designed to accommodate the province’s diverse climatic conditions, with longer breaks in warmer regions and shorter ones in cooler areas. Meanwhile, Punjab has announced its summer vacation starting May 28, prompted by a severe heatwave, along with revised school timings of 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM to protect students from extreme heat.
K-P’s Education Department is monitoring weather patterns and may introduce adjusted school hours if temperatures continue to rise. Parents and school administrations are advised to prioritize student safety by ensuring proper hydration and limiting outdoor activities during peak heat hours.
