Tehran, May 26, 2025 – Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif landed in Tehran on Monday, continuing his six-day diplomatic journey across four nations to bolster regional alliances and express gratitude for support amid recent tensions with India. The visit to Iran follows a productive two-day engagement in Turkiye, where Sharif met with Turkish leadership to reinforce bilateral ties.
Upon arrival at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport, Sharif and his delegation were warmly received by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, alongside Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Mudassar Tipu, and other senior officials. A ceremonial guard of honor from the Iranian army greeted the Prime Minister, marking the start of his official engagements in the country. Later, at Sa’dabad Palace, Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian welcomed Sharif with a formal salute, underscoring the deep ties between the two nations.
The Prime Minister’s delegation includes key figures such as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, and other senior officials, reflecting the significance of the visit.
Focus on Economic and Regional Cooperation
In a recent statement, Sharif highlighted the growing trade between Pakistan and Iran, which has seen significant progress in recent years.
