Ankara, April 22, 2025 — Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif landed in Ankara today for a two-day official visit, warmly welcomed by Türkiye’s Defence Minister Yashar Guler. The visit, at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, signals a renewed commitment to deepening the longstanding partnership between the two nations.
The visit builds on the momentum of President Erdogan’s trip to Islamabad in February, where both countries solidified their strategic cooperation. Prime Minister Sharif is set to engage in comprehensive discussions with President Erdogan, focusing on expanding trade, fostering investment, and addressing pressing regional and global issues. The agenda also includes meetings with Turkish business leaders to explore new avenues for economic collaboration.
In a statement shared on X, Sharif described the Pakistan-Türkiye relationship as a “timeless bond, woven with mutual respect and shared aspirations.” He highlighted the shared vision of both nations to promote peace, prosperity, and progress, noting that their partnership continues to flourish.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, joined by Deputy PM Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, leads a high-level delegation to Saudi Arabia, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and fostering economic cooperation.
The visit follows the 7th session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) held in February, where both nations signed 24 memoranda of understanding to enhance cooperation in diverse sectors.Key agreements aim to increase bilateral trade to $5 billion, enhance the Trade in Goods Agreement, and deepen cooperation in defense, energy, finance, and digital trade, fostering stronger economic ties. Additionally, both countries committed to operationalizing the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul trade corridor, a move expected to enhance regional connectivity.
The Pakistan-Türkiye partnership, rooted in cultural and historical ties, continues to serve as a model of mutual trust and cooperation.
