Islamabad, April 21, 2025 – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has unveiled a prestigious initiative to recognize overseas Pakistanis who significantly invest in Pakistan, honoring them with civil awards for their role as global ambassadors, according to a statement released after a high-level meeting on Monday.
The meeting, attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, federal ministers, and senior officials, focused on strategies to support Pakistanis abroad. PM Shehbaz lauds diaspora as nation’s ambassadors, highlighting their steadfast dedication and remarkable contributions to Pakistan’s progress and prosperity.
Highlighting the recent Overseas Pakistanis Convention, the PM noted the enthusiastic participation as a testament to the diaspora’s trust in government policies. “Their love for Pakistan and the sacrifices they make are truly inspiring,” he remarked, acknowledging their global contributions in fields like medicine, education, engineering, and consultancy.
Under the new initiative, overseas Pakistanis who excel in their professions abroad or contribute significantly through remittances via the State Bank will be eligible for civil awards. “This is a tribute to their hard work and integrity, which have elevated Pakistan’s reputation worldwide,” the PM stated. He emphasized that these awards aim to celebrate their achievements and strengthen their connection with the homeland.
