Lahore, Pakistan – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz unveiled plans for Pakistan’s inaugural Artificial Intelligence (AI) University in Lahore during her address at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025 in Turkey. The ambitious initiative aims to redefine education by equipping the nation’s youth with cutting-edge technological skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
Speaking to world leaders and policymakers, Maryam Nawaz underscored the urgent need for a global recommitment to girls’ education, emphasizing its transformative power. “Education is a beacon of hope, a tool to uplift communities, and a foundation for progress,” she declared. The AI University, she explained, will integrate advanced technology into learning, preparing students for a future driven by innovation. “This institution will not only elevate Punjab’s educational framework but also position Pakistan as a leader in AI-driven education,” she added.
The Chief Minister highlighted Punjab’s strides in educational reform since she took office in March 2024. Over 4,000 primary schools have been modernized, and 6,000 digital learning rooms equipped with touchscreens have replaced traditional blackboards. Additionally, 50,000 merit-based scholarships have been introduced, alongside a daily milk program to address malnutrition. The government has also reopened shuttered schools, recruited 30,000 teachers, and launched AI-based learning platforms to foster a tech-savvy generation.
Maryam Nawaz also introduced the “Nawaz Sharif Internet City,” a visionary project to establish Pakistan as a hub for digital innovation. “This is the dawn of a new digital era for Pakistan, where technology and education converge to unlock endless possibilities,” she said.
Expressing gratitude to Turkish First Lady Emine Erdoğan and the Maarif Foundation for hosting the forum, she celebrated the deep bond between Pakistan and Turkey. “Our nations are united by a shared vision for progress and prosperity,” she noted, extending warm wishes from Punjab’s people.
The Chief Minister also drew attention to global humanitarian crises, spotlighting the plight of children in Palestine, Afghanistan, Jammu and Kashmir, and Sudan. “No child should be denied education or safety,” she urged, calling for collective action to ensure inclusive learning worldwide.
Maryam Nawaz concluded with a powerful pledge: “Through education, we will heal divides, empower girls, and build a future where every child can dream without limits.” The AI University stands as a testament to that vision, promising a brighter, smarter tomorrow for Pakistan.
