Pakistan’s Talha Waheed has served his way into the history books, breaking the Guinness World Record for the most successful tennis serves in a minute. The 47-year-old tennis veteran delivered an astonishing 59 serves, shattering the previous record of 42 set by American John Perry in 2019, Guinness World Records confirmed on Wednesday.
Waheed’s record-breaking feat took place on November 8, 2024, in Lahore, following a rigorous three-month training regimen. His attempt, conducted under strict Guinness World Records guidelines, was officially ratified on March 10, 2025, crowning him the new global titleholder.
Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi praised Waheed’s achievement as a landmark moment for the sport in the country. “Talha’s record is unique, and earning a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records is no small feat,” Qureshi said. “This is exactly the boost Pakistani tennis needs. It’s a major inspiration for young players and a testament to what dedication can achieve.”
A seasoned competitor, Waheed has an impressive track record in national and international senior tennis. He has clinched multiple national titles in the 35+, 40+, and 45+ doubles categories and reached a career-high ranking of 144 in the 40+ doubles category on the ITF senior world rankings circuit.
The journey to the record was no easy task. Waheed set his sights on surpassing Perry’s mark of 42 serves and trained relentlessly to perfect his speed and accuracy. His successful attempt in November showcased not only his skill but also his determination to put Pakistani tennis on the global map.
PTF Secretary General Col. Zia-ud-Din Tufail, along with other federation officials, joined Qureshi in congratulating Waheed. “This milestone highlights the potential within Pakistan’s tennis community,” Tufail noted. “Talha has made us all proud.”
Guinness World Records, first established in 1955 as The Guinness Book of Records to settle a debate over Europe’s fastest game bird, has since grown into the world’s leading authority on extraordinary accomplishments. Waheed’s entry into its ranks adds a new chapter to Pakistan’s sporting legacy.
With this record, Talha Waheed has not only aced his competition but also served up a powerful message: age is no barrier to greatness, and Pakistani talent can shine on the world stage.
