Paramount Pictures has taken the reins of the “Angry Birds” franchise from Sony, announcing the third installment, Angry Birds Movie 3, slated for a 2027 release. The series, which has sustained a robust streaming audience, builds on the success of its predecessors. The original 2016 film raked in $352 million globally, while its 2019 sequel earned $152.2 million, cementing the franchise’s enduring appeal in the digital space.

Sega, fresh off its triumph with Paramount on the “Sonic the Hedgehog” series, joins as a producer alongside Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, Flywheel Media, One Cool Group, and Dentsu. DNEG Animation, known for hits like The Garfield Movie and Nimona, will handle the film’s animation.
Fan-favorite voice actors are set to return, including Jason Sudeikis as Red, Josh Gad as Chuck, Rachel Bloom as Silver, and Danny McBride as Bomb. The cast expands with newcomers Emma Myers, Keke Palmer, Tim Robinson, Lily James, Marcello Hernandez, Walker Scobell, Sam Richardson, and Nikki Glaser, promising a fresh dynamic.
