A dramatic incident unfolded on the Umerkot-Mirpurkhas Highway in Sindh on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, when a police mobile vehicle flipped over while attempting to avoid a confrontation between two fighting buffaloes blocking the road, according to local authorities and eyewitness reports.
The accident occurred near Mumtaz Pulia, where the police vehicle, carrying two policewomen and a suspect they were escorting, encountered the unexpected obstacle. Driver Ahmed, who was at the wheel, explained, “When we reached near Mumtaz Pulia, two huge buffaloes were locked in a fight on the highway. I tried to avoid them by pulling over to the side of the road, but there wasn’t enough space.” In the frantic effort to steer clear, the vehicle collided with one of the buffaloes, causing it to overturn and skid into a ditch with significant force.
The collision resulted in injuries to the two policewomen and the suspect, who were promptly transported to Civil Hospital for treatment. Tragically, one of the buffaloes involved in the altercation also perished in the impact. Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, focusing on road safety and the management of stray livestock on major highways.
