Islamabad, May 19, 2025 – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has firmly dismissed speculations about launching a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif or National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, labeling such claims as groundless.
In a statement shared with local media, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan clarified the party’s stance, putting an end to swirling rumors. “The PTI has no plans to table a no-confidence motion against anyone at this moment. These reports are entirely baseless, and no such directive has come from the party’s founder,” Gohar emphasized.
He acknowledged that the Constitution grants political parties the right to pursue a no-confidence motion but stressed that the PTI has not discussed or considered this option. “We urge the media to refrain from spreading unverified claims,” he added, addressing the reports that sparked the controversy.
Meanwhile, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq responded to the rumors with composure during a casual exchange with journalists. “I’ve heard whispers about a no-confidence motion against me. Anyone who wishes to proceed is welcome to try,” Sadiq remarked, exuding confidence in his role.
Sadiq highlighted his impartial approach as Speaker, noting that he has consistently worked to accommodate all members of the assembly. “I believe even PTI’s own lawmakers would hesitate to support such a move,” he said, suggesting internal dissent within the party could undermine any potential motion.
Reflecting on his tenure, Sadiq expressed satisfaction with his contributions and underscored the importance of national unity. “Our focus should be on honoring the true heroes—those who have laid down their lives for Pakistan’s security,” he said, paying tribute to the country’s martyrs.
The clarification from PTI and Sadiq’s measured response have quelled speculations for now, as the political landscape remains focused on fostering stability and addressing pressing national challenges.
