In a touching gesture ahead of the Eid festivities, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched a province-wide initiative to bring smiles to the faces of special needs children. The campaign, aimed at distributing Eid gifts to 40,000 special students enrolled in government institutions, kicked off with vibrant celebrations in Lahore on Saturday. The program reflects the government’s commitment to inclusivity and spreading joy during the festive season.
The initiative was formally inaugurated at the Government Degree College of Special Education in Johar Town, where the air buzzed with excitement. Acting on the chief minister’s directive, Special Assistant Sania Aashiq spearheaded the gift distribution, visiting three key institutions in Lahore: the Government Degree College of Special Education in Johar Town, the Government Shadab Institute of Special Education, and the Government Degree College for Special Education in Nishtar Town. Sania personally handed out gifts and Eid cards to students in their classrooms, ensuring each child felt the warmth of the occasion.
In a heartfelt moment, Sania read out a special message from CM Maryam Nawaz to the students, conveying her love and care. The children, in their own unique and beautiful ways, expressed gratitude—some through beaming smiles, others through gestures of joy that lit up the rooms. The initiative wasn’t just about gifts; it was about making every child feel seen and cherished during Eid.
Adding a symbolic touch to the event, Sania Aashiq planted a sapling on the college lawn, signifying growth, hope, and a brighter future for these children. Speaking on behalf of the chief minister, she emphasized that bringing happiness to special children was a privilege and a priority for the government.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in her statement, called the initiative a “great honour” and reaffirmed her commitment to uplifting special needs children across Punjab. She revealed that the province would soon see new projects aimed at improving educational and welfare facilities for these students, hinting at innovative reforms on the horizon.
This Eid gift drive marks a meaningful step toward inclusivity, ensuring that the joy of the festival reaches every corner of Punjab’s special education community. As the campaign rolls out province-wide, it promises to create countless moments of happiness for 40,000 deserving children.
