Rawalpindi, May 7, 2025 – City authorities in Rawalpindi have implemented a mandatory blackout across all residential areas, citing urgent security concerns following recent aerial attacks in the region, according to local sources.
A directive from the municipal administration, effective immediately, mandates that the blackout be observed daily from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am until further notice. The measure is intended to enhance safety by minimizing visibility from the air during nighttime hours.
The order requires all streetlights to remain off throughout the night. Residents have been instructed to extinguish exterior lighting, including those on balconies, terraces, and pathways. Additionally, the administration has called for the use of heavy curtains or blinds to block indoor light and urged citizens to limit indoor lighting to essential use only.
To further ensure public safety, officials have advised against non-essential travel during blackout hours. “These precautions are critical to safeguarding our community during this period of heightened alert,” the notification emphasized.
Local authorities have appealed for full compliance, stressing that these measures are vital to national security amid ongoing regional instability. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official channels for updates on the situation.
