Thunderstorm Warnings Issued Across Saudi Arabia Until Monday
Riyadh, March 15, 2025 – Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Civil Defense has issued a nationwide warning as thunderstorms are expected to sweep across most regions of the Kingdom through Monday. Residents are urged to exercise caution, stay in safe locations, and avoid valleys and flood-prone areas amid forecasts of heavy rainfall.
The Saudi Press Agency reported that moderate to heavy rain is anticipated in the Makkah and Riyadh regions, potentially causing flash floods, hail, and strong downdrafts. Similar conditions are expected in Madinah, Asir, Hail, and Qassim, while the Eastern Province braces for moderate showers. Light to moderate rainfall is forecast for Tabuk, Baha, Jazan, and Najran.
Authorities have advised the public to avoid swimming in flooded areas and to monitor official channels and social media for real-time weather updates. The Civil Defense emphasized the importance of staying informed and prepared as the stormy weather persists.
